Blog Post Template (Duplicate)
Welcome to your blog post template. (H3)
Before I teach you how to use your blog post template, I want to help you organize your publishing process.
Watch this 12-minute video lesson.
Add an explanation (caption) to any video you upload. Explain what the video is about. This helps with ADA compliance. To do this, double-click to open the video block above. Then turn the caption “on” and write the caption. Next—turn the caption “off.”
Click below to get your copy of the Blog Post Strategy Outline referenced in the video. Feel free to use my system as inspiration for setting up your own.
After you’ve made yourself a copy of the above Google doc, you can customize it to fit your needs.
Now I want to teach you how to use your blog post template effectively so the time and energy you will dedicate to writing and publishing articles on your blog will actually help optimize your website to perform better in the search engines. When you duplicate this post, you will delete this template content and replace it with your article content. To walk you through the process of using this blog post template, watch this 35-minute video lesson.
About header tags. (H3)
Your header tags (H1, H2, H3, and H4) are used for two reasons.
#1 - they give you the opportunity to break up paragraphs so people can easily skim your articles
#2 — they tell Google what’s most important on this page
Your H1 header tag use should be limited to once on a page (or in the case, blog post). Your h1 header tag is what Google most prioritizes when it crawls this page—it tells Google what this post is about. Your post titles are set to H1 by default so there is no need to use them again in the body of your posts.
I’ve created a handy visual guide to help you understand where to add your keyword for this post. You’ll add it in seven places for this post.
Feel free to use your remaining header tags (h2, h3, and h4) to style copy in certain sections on the page. Your H2 is very large (we used it for headlines throughout the site). It may be too overpowering for use in blog posts so it’s fine to stick with your h3 and h4. (h4)
This is the size of your h3.
THESE LITTLE ALL CAPS ARE A NICE OPTION TO SUBHEAD A SECTION (p1)
People are skimmers. Use short sentences and small paragraphs. Break your paragraphs up by using header tags. Do not fear white space. It gives the eyes a break and makes things lovelier to read.
Open up your content block panel by clicking on any of the little blue oval (+) shapes that display when you hover over this page. Those are called “insert points.” This is where you can insert cool things to your blog posts like: quotes (see below), buttons (see above), videos, audios, images, and more!
Tip → If your insert points aren’t displaying when you hover over the body of your post, simply click off the post (into the side margin) and then try again. (h4)
